Sachi Moskowitz - Tsunami Warning 2025, painted ceramic vase

SACHI MOSKOWITZ & LOUIE MOSKOWITZ

Rooted in legacy but defined by contemporary voices, MADE TO LAST presents the work of sibling artists, Sachi and Louie Moskowitz, for the first time, together in duo solo show.

Sachi’s richly symbolic ceramic sculptural vases alongside Louie’s moody and intimate black-and-white analog photography create a picture of their shared upbringing, a life in Topanga and Humboldt, California. Together, their work honors their family lineage while forging new creative ground.

Though their mediums differ, the Moskowitz siblings share a profound reverence for memory, place, and the natural rhythms of life in their ballad-like works. MADE TO LAST is both a tribute to their family’s artistic heritage and a powerful statement of the artists’ unique and contemporary voices.

The exhibition title is drawn from a quote by their late father, acclaimed airbrush painter Stewart Moskowitz and speaks to the enduring relevance of handcrafted art, generational memory, and the resilience of artistic expression across time.

“This show is something we have imagined for a long time—through many different versions, even ones that included more of our family. But ultimately, it felt right to keep it just the two of us. Together, we represent the creative work ethic that runs through our family—it’s something we grew up with, something that lives in our blood.

We’ve been thinking a lot about lineage, memory, and shared spaces. Earlier this year, we lost our grandfather, Michael Frimkess. And this May marked eight years since our father Stewart Moskowitz passed away. These milestones, layered with grief and gratitude, gave us the push to finally bring this show to life.”

“We both had a deep bond with our father. Some of our most cherished memories are of spending time together in his studio Louie curating the music and taking photographs while our dad painted, and all of us sharing ideas, giving feedback, working side by side. It was a space of mutual support, creativity, and love. This exhibition is, at its core, an homage to our father.

It’s a continuation of the conversations we used to have in his studio about form, material, and the joy of being creative. It’s also a reminder that the threads connecting us through generations are not just emotional, but tactile and visual. Through photography and ceramics, we carry that legacy forward, in our own way, together.”- Sachi Moskowitz

Sachi Moskowitz is a Los Angeles-based ceramicist. Her work combines traditional elements of ceramic techniques and painterly glazing on vessels. Through her ceramics she provides a glimpse into an intimate documentation of her recollected mythology. Her brother Louie Moskowitz lives in Humboldt County in Northern California. Louie shoots film photographs with a Leica and makes his own prints in his darkroom. He documents the everyday lives of people, landscapes, and quiet rituals of rural Northern California.
