20’s / 20s

June 18 - 20 2022
Nurturing young artist’s, ARCANE Space presents 20’s / 20s. All in their twenties, we had been following these 4 artists’ impressive and prolific creativity across their various social media platforms. As part of a collective of collaborating creators that include musicians, visual artists, photographers, & videographers, their works stems from a camaraderie that exposes and expresses the unflinching energy of how they view their world, what they see and make of their daily lives in this time of theirs.  Joy, anxiety, fun, and fantasy, they are taking control of their own narratives and capturing moments worth their and our remembering.  This show gave each artist an opportunity to produce and exhibit their work for the first time in a gallery setting.

ZooDeVille

Recording artist, videographer, photographer from Vacaville CA, based out of LA, Member of No Fun! & 667 Kult.

“Something about life just feeling like fleeting moments made photographs and videos something I was very fascinated with. None of my work is to impress or to display any skill. The driving force behind my work is just to capture memories. It’s all for me to look back on in my later years and appreciate time spent and I hope you do too.”

LEVI EVANS

Musician, singer, songwriter, and producer, but has always incorporated his drawings into his work, designing graphics for his music and associated clothing line, Muttlee’s.

”I’ve always been a doodler. From a young age I drew on everything, everywhere. From tables, homework assignments, and even my own body, no surface was safe from my pen. Back then, I would imagine characters and creatures and try my best to get them out of my head. Nowadays I find it's quite the opposite. The process of drawing, for me, is fluid, thoughtless even, and as I slip into that state of mind, I believe I am tapping into the remaining visual fragments of my child-like subconscious.”

Tali Maranges

Photographer, musician, and visual artist based in Los Angeles, California.
She is part of the music collective called No Fun.

“I’ve always experienced an overwhelming feeling of inspiration through any and all aspects of life, many of which are often considered mundane. My perception of the world is comparable to a sort of sensory overload which I’ve been able to channel into my work over time. This collection of 35mm black & white photography and drawings display that pipeline between perception and expression, which for me is ever evolving.”

Leandro Lara

Photographer from Grand Rapids, MI

”I capture life in the ways I see it: in documentary style and through portraiture. Always keeping a point and shoot camera with me gives me the option of seizing a moment that connects and that I feel warrants capturing, and eventually sharing it with the world.

I've chosen this selection of photos because they are moments that have stuck with me, whether it be a show of Dave performing or Josh playing drums with a message on his thighs, “LIVE HEAVY”. When I revisit my photos, I am taken back to the moments that were important to me then and that still hold importance to me now. And sometimes the moments are just thing I’ve never seen before, like a rooster on the block.”
